Showcase

Six evenings described honestly, including the awkward parts. Clients are identified by sector and setting rather than by name, because that is what we agreed with them.

Why there are no logos on this page

We do not publish client names, logos or photographs identifying guests without written permission, and we do not ask for that permission as a condition of working with us. Everything below is anonymised by default. No testimonial on this site is attributed to a company we have not worked with.

Corporate year-end function

Three departments, one floor, nobody standing in a corner

Client
Manitoba technology company
Guests
90 adult guests
Format
Corporate Casino Evening
On the floor
Two blackjack, one roulette, one poker-themed table

The brief

The organiser had run a plated dinner with awards for four years and reported that people left early. They wanted something that mixed teams without forcing it.

What we did

A standing reception floor plan with four tables and deliberate rotation, run by a floor host. Teaching rounds for the first forty minutes so the two-thirds of the room who had never played could start without embarrassment.

Outcome

The client reported that attendance held past the scheduled finish for the first time, and that the leaderboard presentation replaced the awards segment entirely the following year.

Client appreciation evening

A difficult load-in that the client never heard about

Client
International consulting firm
Guests
48 adult guests
Format
Corporate Casino Evening
On the floor
Two tables, branded chips, photo zone

The brief

A ninth-floor venue with a single freight lift, a two-hour access window and a compliance team that wanted written confirmation the format involved no gambling.

What we did

We supplied a written format description for their compliance review ahead of the booking, split the kit for two lift loads, and set the room inside the window. The chip explanation was printed on a card at the welcome desk.

Outcome

Load-in finished eleven minutes ahead of doors. The firm rebooked for the following quarter and asked for the same evening manager.

Premium milestone birthday

A sixtieth where the roulette table outlasted the band

Client
Private host
Guests
35 adult guests
Format
Private Celebration
On the floor
One roulette table, one croupier, keepsake photo corner

The brief

A home venue with a narrow staircase, hardwood floors the host was protective of, and a guest list spanning three generations of adults.

What we did

Table broken down for the stair carry and rebuilt in the room, felt pads on every leg, and a single very patient croupier who taught the oldest guests first.

Outcome

Play ran for three hours. The host described the photographs as the best part and has since referred two further private bookings.

Exclusive private event

Eleven guests, one table, no photographs

Client
Private host
Guests
11 adult guests
Format
The VIP Salon
On the floor
One dressed table, senior croupier, salon manager

The brief

A closing celebration where the guest list itself was confidential. No photography, no supplier branding and no mention of the event anywhere.

What we did

A single table styled to the host’s palette, unbranded uniform, crew briefed on a strict no-discussion basis, and a running order built around a four-course service.

Outcome

The host confirmed the evening ran exactly to the sheet. By agreement, nothing further about it is published, including here.

HR team-building programme

An estimating problem made visible in two hours

Client
Engineering group
Guests
34 participants
Format
Team Building Programme
On the floor
Four tables, facilitator, two croupiers, floor host

The brief

The people team suspected that project estimates were being anchored by whoever spoke first, and wanted the pattern surfaced without naming anyone.

What we did

Four rotations including a constrained-information round, with the facilitator tracking how groups formed decisions. A forty-five minute plenary debrief and an anonymised written summary five days later.

Outcome

The group identified anchoring and silent dissent themselves during the debrief. The summary fed into a change in how their estimates are collected.

Event agency partner

Supplier on someone else’s run sheet

Client
Event agency partner
Guests
120 adult guests
Format
Production and table hire, white label
On the floor
Six tables, lighting, draping, branded chips, photo zone

The brief

An agency needed a casino-themed floor inside a larger gala, delivered under their own branding, to their production schedule, with no supplier logos anywhere.

What we did

We attended their production meetings, worked to their run sheet, supplied unbranded uniform and dealt only with their production lead on site.

Outcome

Delivered at the maximum floor plan we run. The agency now books us as their standing supplier for this format.

In their words

Client comments

“Half the room had never played anything. By the second round they were coaching each other. It did more for the department than the previous two offsites combined.”

Corporate year-end function · Manitoba technology company

“Discreet, punctual, properly dressed. The symbolic-chip explanation up front saved us a conversation with compliance that we were dreading.”

Client appreciation evening · International consulting firm

“We wanted something more interesting than a dinner for my father’s sixtieth. The roulette table ran for three hours and the photographs are wonderful.”

Premium milestone birthday · Private host

“They worked to our run sheet, wore our branding and never once went around us to the client. That is rarer than it should be.”

Gala floor, white label · Event agency partner

“The debrief was uncomfortable in the right way. Two of the patterns they described were exactly how our estimates go wrong.”

HR team-building programme · Engineering group

“Eleven guests, one table, and a manager who anticipated everything. Uncomplicated in every way that mattered.”
