Responsible Entertainment Notice
A casino-themed evening is theatre, not gaming. This page sets out what we do and do not provide, who should think twice about attending, and where to find independent support in Canada.
1. Our position
Bluff and Bash does not provide gambling services. We organise offline, casino-themed event entertainment for adult guests: tables, croupiers, hosting, lighting and styling, delivered at a venue for up to 4 hours and then taken away.
In full
This is strictly offline event entertainment. There is no real-money gambling, no betting, no cash prizes, and no online casino service.
18+ | Offline event entertainment | No real-money gambling | No betting | No cash prizes | No online casino
There is no real money anywhere in our product. Specifically:
- no stakes, wagers or bets;
- no cash prizes, payouts or winnings;
- no deposits, buy-ins or entry fees to play;
- no slot machines, slots or coin-operated amusement machines;
- no online casino, betting site, sportsbook or gaming app;
- no way to convert anything from the evening into money or credit.
We are not licensed as a gaming operator because our format does not require it: nothing of value is staked and nothing of value is won. We will provide a written description of the format to any venue, employer or compliance team that asks.
2. Symbolic chips only
Guests play with symbolic chips. They are issued free, in identical allocations, at the door. They carry no denomination and no currency marking. They are counted at the end only to produce a leaderboard, and they go back into our crates the same night.
Chips cannot be bought, sold, topped up, exchanged, redeemed, lent against anything of value, or taken home. Any prize presented at the end is a non-cash keepsake supplied by the host.
3. Adults only
Our events are strictly for adults aged 18+ and over, which is the position we apply throughout Canada. Age is checked at the door. Anyone who cannot verify their age is politely refused.
We will not run tables at an event where minors are present, and we do not accept bookings for school, youth or family events where under-18s will be in the room. We do not depict anyone under 18+ in our materials and we do not advertise to young audiences.
4. If gambling has been a problem
This is the part of the page that matters most. Even with no money involved, a casino-themed setting — the felt, the chips, the sound of a wheel — can be genuinely difficult for someone who has experienced gambling-related harm, or who is in recovery.
If that applies to you, we would not encourage you to attend, and you should not feel any pressure to. Sitting out is completely reasonable, and nobody needs to explain why. If you are a guest at an event we are running and you would rather not be near the tables, our floor host will help you find somewhere comfortable without making it a conversation.
If you are organising an event and you know or suspect that this applies to someone on your guest list, please tell us. We can place the tables in a separate room, shorten the play window, or propose an entirely different format. We would rather lose a booking than put someone in that position.
5. What our crew will do
- Explain, at the door and at the table, that chips are scorekeeping only and have no value.
- Refuse to accept money from a guest for chips, under any circumstances.
- Decline to run a table if anyone attempts to introduce real stakes.
- Step a guest away from a table quietly if they are uncomfortable, distressed or intoxicated.
- Refuse service politely to anyone who cannot verify that they are 18+ or over.
- Never solicit or accept gratuities at the table.
- Never promote, recommend or discuss gambling products, venues, apps or websites.
6. Guidance for hosts
- Describe the evening to your guests as themed entertainment with symbolic chips. Do not imply that money can be won.
- Do not offer cash, cash equivalents or anything redeemable for cash as a prize. We will not present them.
- Make taking part genuinely optional, especially at a work event where guests may feel obliged.
- Plan the evening so that there is somewhere pleasant to be that is not a table.
- Keep the play window tight. Three hours is plenty, and four is our maximum.
- Tell us in advance about anything we should handle sensitively.
7. Alcohol
We do not supply or serve alcohol; that stays with your venue or caterer under their own licence. Our crew are briefed to step a guest away from a table, and to inform the evening manager and your contact, where someone has had too much to drink to take part safely.
8. How we advertise
We advertise an offline, adults-only event service. We do not advertise gambling, betting, online casinos, slots or real-money play, because we do not provide them. We do not use language suggesting a monetary prize of any kind, and we do not target or depict anyone under 18+.
9. Support information in Canada
The information below is provided as general public-interest signposting only. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or partnered with any of these organisations, and we receive nothing from listing them.
- Problem gambling helpline
- A national-style helpline number commonly published in Canada is 1-800-463-1554. Support is organised provincially, so your own provincial or territorial helpline may be the better route — search for “problem gambling helpline” together with your province or territory.
- Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA)
- Publishes general information and resources on addiction and behavioural health in Canada. Search for “Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction” for current contact details and publications.
- Your health service
- Provincial health lines and family doctors can refer to local counselling services. In an emergency, or if someone is at immediate risk, call your local emergency number.
Helpline numbers and service names change over time. If you find that any detail above is out of date, please tell us at [email protected] and we will correct it.
10. Questions
Questions about this notice, or about how we would handle a specific situation at your event, go to [email protected] or +1 204 675 4382. We would much rather have the conversation before the booking than on the night.
